Talking point
It all started with a surprising discovery. Back in 2004, on a crisp autumn day, Bart Stephens was experimenting with his family’s first digital camera. Intrigued by the possibilities, he decided to combine his passion for bird watching with this new gadget. He aimed the camera at an outdoor suet feeder, set it to capture images over time, expecting it to capture empty frames.
The outcome was astonishing. Every frame was filled with stunning photos of Red-headed, Red-bellied, and Hairy Woodpeckers. Bart and his family eagerly gathered around their home computer each evening to marvel at the close-up shots, made possible by the convenience of digital technology.
This revelation inspired the birth of Wingscapes, driven by the simple yet profound idea that innovative technology could revolutionize how people connect with backyard nature. Through careful engineering and extensive testing, we proudly introduced the BirdCam. What sets it apart is its unique ability to distinguish between bird motion and feeder movement, ensuring it captures only bird-related activity. We also dedicated meticulous attention to the BirdCam’s image quality, striving to deliver high-resolution photos and videos, enriching the experience of observing wildlife in your own backyard.
